For the first time, a joint symposium on Mechatronics and Robotics will be held in 2025, combining the 10th IFAC Symposium on Mechatronic Systems (MECHATRONICS 2025) and the 14th Symposium on Robotics (ROBOTICS 2025). The event will take place from Tuesday to Friday, July 15-18, 2025, at the International Conference Center of Sorbonne University, in the beautiful city of Paris, France.

The two symposia are co-organized by the University of Technology of Tarbes Occitanie Pyrénées, Sorbonne University, and the University of Paris-Est Créteil. The event is technically main-sponsored by IFAC, with additional technical sponsorship from IFAC TC4.2 Mechatronic Systems, IFAC TC4.3 Robotics, IFAC TC4.1 Human Machine Systems, and the French NMO.

Several contributions possibilities are offered for the symposia:

  • Submission of an article to the IFAC Mechatronics journal with presentation at the symposia
  • Submission of a regular paper to the symposia
  • Submission of an invited paper to the symposia through one of the invited sessions
  • Submission of an extended abstract to the symposia
  • Organization of Workshop or Tutorial
  • Presentation at a Workshop or a Tutorial
  • Organization of invited sessions

For each of the above contribution, the contributor will have to chose which of the two symposia (Mechatronics or Robotics) best fits.

After the symposia, authors of selected regular and invited papers will be proposed to extend the latters for a special issue at IFAC Mechatronics journal.

Mechatronics Symposium:
The IFAC Symposium on Mechatronic Systems is a symposium that brings together an international community of experts and users to discuss the state-of-the-art, new research results, perspectives of future developments, and innovative applications relevant to mechatronics and related areas. The series of the symposium was initially biennial, then became triennial from 2010.

History of the Mechatronics Symposium:

  • 1st conference in September 2000 (Darmstadt, Germany)
  • 2nd conference in December 2002 (Berkeley, CA USA)
  • 3rd symposium in September 2004 (Sydney, Australia)
  • 4th symposium in September 2006 (Heidelberg, Germany)
  • 5th symposium in September 2010 (Cambridge, MA USA)
  • 6th symposium in April 2013 (Hangzhou, China)
  • 7th symposium in September 2016 (Loughborough, UK)
  • 8th symposium in September 2019 (Vienna, Austria)
  • 9th symposium in September 2022 (Los Angeles, CA USA)

Robotics Symposium:
Robotic technology is nowadays widely found in diverse applications such as: space, medical, entertainment, civil engineering, professional and personal services, security, automotive, rescue, exploration, agriculture, production industry. The IFAC Symposium on Robot Control Technology (SYROCO) is a triennial event that gathers researchers and engineers in robotics at large to vibrantly share ideas, results, and perspectives in the field. “SYROCO” becomes “ROBOTICS” or “IFAC Symposium on Robotics” from 2025.

History of the Robotics Symposium:

  • 1st symposium in November 1985 (Barcelona, Spain)
  • 2nd symposium in October 1988 (Karlsruhe, Germany)
  • 3rd symposium in September 1991 (Vienna, Austria)
  • 4th symposium in September 1994 (Capri, Italy)
  • 5th symposium in September 1997 (Nantes, France)
  • 6th symposium in September 2000 (Vienna, Austria)
  • 7th symposium in September 2003 (Wroclaw, Poland)
  • 8th symposium in September 2006 (Bologna, Italy)
  • 9th symposium in September 2009 (Gifu, Japan)
  • 10th symposium in September 2012 (Dubrovnik, Croatia)
